Meet the Owners
Michael and Deanna Rippeon
with their children Jackson, Madeline and Alexandra.
Michael is Vice President of Frederick Equipment Company, Gaithersburg Equipment Company and Westminster Equipment Company – which are top performing, full-service Kubota dealerships and New Holland Construction.
Deanna is the general manager everything house, barn, and home! She serves as the Secretary for the Maryland State Quarter Horse Association and is also active in their youth association.
Jackson enjoys showing purebred American shorthorn calves, finishing as the Eastern Regional Shorthorn Steer Grand Champion in 2015 and the ABC Jackpot Show's reserve overall. He also loves playing on his club soccer team year-round, where he has made great, life-long friends. Jackson has worked very hard to design and outfit his show barn on the front end of Sunset Ridge. He attends 4th grade and is as tall as some of his teachers!
Maddie had a rockstar show season with her registered quarter horses Sonny and Merlin. She came home with several small fry, all-around championships from AQHA shows. Maddie completed her 2015 with a competition at the Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. Surrounded by friends, she was thrilled to bring home a Top 10 belt buckle! Maddie really loves seeing her show friends and taking off on her bike where Mom can't find her. She also enjoys knitting, making arts and crafts, and playing year-round soccer. She attends 2nd grade.
Allie loves to play soccer with her best friends and is super active outside. She likes working in the barn, stating that she "can work harder than the other kids combined!" Allie enjoyed showing AQHA lead line for the 2015 season on her horse Sonny, and really loved her debut in the walk jog class at our local Howard County Fair Show. Allie enjoys singing Adele songs, dancing to Taylor Swift and generally making the rest of us crack up laughing. She attends the 1st grade and is excited to show a heifer this year in the open classes.

Sunset Ridge Farm's owners and facility managers live on property to provide full time care and late night nuzzles. Our in-barn private apartment allows guests to be close by for clinics and 24 hour care, should the need arise.
Happy Holidays and warm blankets from our festive staff! Our blanket bars are large enough to fit 2-3 oversized blankets. Each stall is outfitted with a horse head bridle hook and a custom tack box. A fly system throughout the barn keeps our friends comfortable through the Summer months.
Our luxurious 84x168 mirror wrapped and well lit indoor arena is open year round. Boasting 3 rows of lights and Eurofelt/equicush footing guarantee good rides all year long. Dust is minimized with the use of our watering system and in the winter, we use magnesium flakes to prevent freezing and optimize cushion for your performance horse. The arena is groomed fresh each morning and as needed throughout the day.
Sunset Ridge provides 2 farrier bays for your use. Bring your own farrier or ask for the list of farriers that make regular trips to our barn.
The outdoor arena offers the most amazing views of our Frederick County countryside. Our outdoor arena sits high up on the ridge, is groomed daily and watered as needed.
Sunset Ridge's first class boarding operation is homed here. We offer the best for you and your horse.
The Terms are Sonny, a registered quarter, gelding performance horse, enjoying his Dutch window. They can be opened for fresh air or closed to avoid a chill.
